National Conference
on Eating Disorder Legislation

Thursday, June 30, 8 am-5 pm

People from all walks of life are coming together this summer to change the way America looks at eating disorders. We are meeting in Washington to create a “dream bill,” a document that will become the federal model legislation to fight life threatening eating disorders.

Be a part of this historic event! Show your support! Share your ideas. And in the end, sign your name to this piece of history.

The model legislation will include sections on research, prevention and education, and treatment. It will include specific directions for action within various parts of the federal government. We will build upon the principles established at the First National Conference on Eating Disorder Policy (2004) and add details for various government actions.

Finally, you can sign your name to the Declaration of Equality for People with Eating Disorders. Your signature will become a permanent part of the document produced by this conference and presented to the United States Congress.

In this conference, you will • review past eating disorder bills • discover new federal funding priorities • learn from leading policy experts • and help write a new, comprehensive "Eating Disorder Dream Bill.”

Stay one more day, and participate in the State Advocacy Summit!

State Advocacy Summit

Friday, July 1, 8 am-noon

Does your state offer equal health coverage for people with eating disorders? Some states do. What are the issues where you live? How does your state compare with others in your region? Eating disorder advocacy is taking place across the country. Local and state policies are being introduced, revised, modified, or omitted in response to the involvement of consumers, parents, therapists, administrators, elected officials, and health insurers. Join us as we hear from people and organizations active at the local and state level in this FIRST state advocacy summit.

Moderator: Lynn Grefe, CEO, National Eating Disorders Association
