Eating Disorders Memorial Quilt Begins Work
at NEDA Conference
 The
inaugural display of the Eating Disorders Memorial Quilt took place at the
2006 conference of the National Eating Disorders Association in Bethesda,
Maryland. The quilt appeared with the EDC information booth, drawing strong
and sympathetic reactions from conference participants. Several people
visited the quilt to see the panels that they had contributed.
The names,
dates, and images on the quilt reminded viewers of the deadly effects of
eating disorders and of the lives that have been lost.
This quilt
will continue to be displayed at EDC events such as annual meetings, press
conferences, and briefings. When not on public display, the quilt will hang
in the EDC office, one block from the U.S. Capitol.
Quilt
Coordinator Millie Plotkin leads the project by collecting panels, stitching
them together, and gathering personal information for the quilt's archival
files. It is a perfect fit for the eating disorder activist and professional
librarian.

Mark Your Calendar for 2007
The next EDC Lobby Day is tentatively scheduled May 1, 2007. The focus
of the day will be the new Eating Disorders Dream Bill. New in 2007:

A full day of appointments, morning and afternoon.

A lunchtime presentation at the Capitol.
- Teams limited to no more than four
people
