Why Your Voice Matters

Congressional offices track every constituent contact. Your email shows your representatives that eating disorders policy matters to voters in their district. When hundreds of constituents contact Congress on the same issue, it moves legislation forward.

Your message doesn’t need to be long or complicated. Simply stating your support for a bill and why it matters to you is powerful advocacy that influences federal policy decisions.

Nutrtion CARE Act

The Nutrition CARE Act (H.R. 2495 / S.1971), led by Representatives Judy Chu (D-CA), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Paul Tonko (D-NY), and Don Bacon (R-NE) and Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), will expand Medicare coverage for medical nutrition therapy to include eating disorders, making essential nutrition counseling accessible to millions who need it.

The legislation would remove insurance barriers that currently prevent Medicare beneficiaries from accessing the nutrition therapy critical to eating disorders treatment and recovery.

Kids Online Safety Act

The Kids Online Safety Act (S.1748), led by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) will help protect children and teens from harmful online content including material that promotes eating disorders, cyberbullying, and other threats to youth mental health.

The legislation would require online platforms to take real steps towards creating safer digital spaces and giving families and young users greater control and transparency online.
